Job blog

Up late, after lying abed with my lovely wife. Downstairs to eat scrambled egg on toast. Some hard bit in the bread chipped one of my molars. A cheery morning nevertheless, and Beth, Laura and Lorraine laughing lots. Day filled with filling in forms to do with house sale. Found myself unaccountably tired at tea time and slept for an hour and a half. John arrived, he is sorting some stuff out tomorrow for his student digs, and we went to Pizza 500 where we all had a wonderful, tasty meal. I had a delicious finely balanced pizza, and the best ice cream I've had outside Italy. A matter of yards from our front door, but for some reason we had never been there before. A brilliant place. Unbelievably my foot started kicking off again this evening. Am writing this blog at one o'clock in the morning as the pain of my Job-like affliction won't let me sleep.

Job's new year

A new year full of cheer I hope. Frankly it can only improve.  My choice on the first day of the year, was between having a catheter rammed up the old chap by a random Locum doctor in the hospital, knee-deep in the human debris of a Brighton New Year. Lorraine who is thankfully gradually improving from the flu, went off to see Dawn, lately returned from New Zealand, and now installed in her new flat, for brunch. I was bought a delicious breakfast muffin back. Betty, Lorraine and I then lay about watching past episodes of The Great British B...
Job Cold now developed into a streaming man cold. Feel like Job. Next stop a plague of boils. However I had French work to do, so up with les moineaux to get on with it as I plan to take the rest of the week off to see Toby when he arrives, and try to get myself back into shape. I am walking much better today, and was able to saunter down to go to the quack to discuss swollen knees, ankles etc. with some alacrity. My doctor is a gentle soul and so it is easy to forgive sitting in the waiting room for 40 minutes. Home again, but brain AWOL, and everything difficult, although the new client Justine is charming. Took myself briefly to Waterstones for half an hour's respite. A nice evening. Lorraine arrived bearing DVDs, and cooked us a vegetable curry. We watched the Swedish film of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo .
