Job Cold now developed into a streaming man cold. Feel like Job. Next stop a plague of boils. However I had French work to do, so up with les moineaux to get on with it as I plan to take the rest of the week off to see Toby when he arrives, and try to get myself back into shape. I am walking much better today, and was able to saunter down to go to the quack to discuss swollen knees, ankles etc. with some alacrity. My doctor is a gentle soul and so it is easy to forgive sitting in the waiting room for 40 minutes. Home again, but brain AWOL, and everything difficult, although the new client Justine is charming. Took myself briefly to Waterstones for half an hour's respite. A nice evening. Lorraine arrived bearing DVDs, and cooked us a vegetable curry. We watched the Swedish film of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo .

Writing with a white pen Mercifully my ankle didn't seize up in dreaded orc foot style, so made off for work reasonably adroitly. Lorraine, who had stayed overnight, made me a large cup of tea, which seems in the morning the kindest thing a human being can do for another human being. Up to London and another day frustratingly, blood-out-of-a-stoning with Ken the art director. Felt dizzy with tiredness for much of the afternoon, rectified only by a diet coke, and a word with myself. May has well have used a white pen on white paper for all the use the afternoon session was. Home listening to the Girl who stirred the hornet's nest . As I sat on the tube, and the woman next to me had the paperback, and the woman opposite was reading The girl with the dragon tattoo . Shame Stieg Larsson, who died prematurely, did not see what a monster success his book...
Rehearsal Urgh . Woke up at Lorraine's house after a few hours of sleep. Rehearsal! Home, fed Calliope, showered, stumbled back to Lorraine's place clutching my score. From where we drove to Sussex University for an early This concert rehearsal, this time with musicians and choir together. Unbelievably had a hangover again . A sense of everybody being a bit off the pace today, and I fluffed some lines as we went through, but I put this down to partying but at least Lorraine and Matt were in the same boat. However I was reassured by old hands that it is good to have 'a rehearsal like that'. Even so, when not fiendishly concentrating, I really loved it. Struck by how beautifully Ellie plays violin. Matt has written some gorgeous stuff for her to play, but I'm just amazed at how full of feeling her tone is. Lorraine drove Matt and me back to Brighton, and then Lorraine and I had a chilled afternoon having lunch nearby, before she went home. Spent a quiet evening in w...
