Getting to grips

Deciding to get a grip this morning. Chased payment on my last invoice (somehow overlooked) learned what I have to do about preparing my tax, and sent off my new short story to a competition. I generally got a grip. This included going to the gym, which I did gingerly but it was better than nothing and I suffered no ill effects afterwards. A lovely day, as days after a bank holiday usually are. Home through the park in the sun. In the evening another read through rehearsal with Beth, Kitty and Dylan after pasta and salad which Beth and I prepared, and was ready for when Lorraine got home.  The show is two weeks away and it wasn't our best rehearsal. I'm trying not to twitch, but instead project calm and belief. I hope it's working. Calliope joining the process, and siting on Kitty, who ironically, likes cats but is allergic to them. Restarted my duo lingo French course, rebooting it so I could start afresh. Lorraine started it today, and sat on the sofa talking French t...

Taxed Greatly enjoyed not zooming up to London today, but up early nevertheless. The day shadowed by the realisation that I had made a stuid error and completely misread my tax position sent me by my accountant a few months ago. I realised my bill is much larger than I had anticipated. The reason being I am paying last year's tax in arrears, but tax for this year is being paid currently in two lumps, so two lots of tax rather than one. In other news I went to the gym. Otherwise wan and tired, and after I had completed bits of billing and other admin for the CD and my business this afternoon, I snoozed on the sofa after watching a few episodes of Larry Sanders. Met Lorraine for a spot of food shopping and we had a quiet night indoors. I watched a documentary, not a particularly good one, on the compo...
Under Mars Woke up with an idea for a Guernsey based story this morning, and got it down quickly. Then paid my tax via the interweb: a sobering business. Received a call about an appointment for a bowel check up, which is sensible if somewhat lacking in the glamour normally associated with this blog. Spent the afternoon tidying up. I have the psychological need to get everything straight, so I can slice efficiently into next week. Collected Lorraine and we walked out into a cold night, under a bright full moon with Mars near to it, at a mere 55.7 million km away from earth. It was so close that it is visibly red when glimpsed with the corner of your eye. To the Engineer for a drinks and a cheap and tasty bowl of chilli. To meet Roland and Jay, the couple we'd met on New Year's Eve, and some of their friends. Nice pub and pleasant people, every time I opened my mouth however, I had the sensation I was alienating someone. A disconcerting experience. However Roland a nice chap, an...
