An afternoon with Klaudia

A beautiful day, and up earlyish. Lorraine waking Beth up for work twice, the second time in a Mr Punch voice. After Beth had shot off, we had a Quorn sausage sandwich for breakfast, before Lorraine  made off into town to have her hair done, and scoot about town. I spent a happy afternoon with Klaudia, dropped off by Anton and Oskar who were on their way to a party. Klaudia and I hung out and did some work on poetry together, for a homework assignment. She wrote a lovely piece about a secret beach, and another (slightly less lovely) about a dead jellyfish, a dead eel and a dead goldfish, which made us both laugh. She had recently discovered this blog too, and found there was lots of stuff about her on it. We read some of this out, even back to when she was a tiny child. It brought back good memories of things like sword fighting in the bluebell woods, or the day when Oskar soaked me in the back garden. We hung out looking at music videos too. The reception of dogs Another good day today. First thing in the morning, I worked fruitfully on the new Pollard & Kenny project for an hour. Then I got down to business, making calls, sending my presentation to a few agencies, emailing certain contacts and even taking the opportunity to introduce myself to two local agencies. This quite amusing, one contained three people looking startled that anyone should just walk in the door and talk to them about business. The second's website contained touchy feely stuff about dropping in for a cup of tea and a chat, but the reality was a walk across a car park, a door with a buzzer that opened onto a small but not terribly friendly dog barring your way. The canine negotiated, I reached the reception where I was met by a not terribly friendly male receptionist. In the afternoon I even found myself in The Basketmakers for twenty minutes, popping in for a single beer and to write some lists. Was called up to do some editing work on Monday ...
Prevailing Up very early and working on agency copy till noon, and chatting to First Matie whose job I shall be covering next week. Then down to the gym for another sweaty session. Then a bizarre and annoying visit to the printers to collect the remainder of the leaflets, over which there had been a mix up. They attempted to overcharge me, and claim they had "spoken to your wife who knew all about it" about their misquote. A story they stuck to despite me explaining I wasn't married, lived alone and showing them my phone which of course had no record of their call. I prevailed. Then a few yards down the road to meet Matt and cheerily discuss the recordings in The Basketmakers over a pint of Seafarers. Simon sent us the raw sound files today, and I listened to them again - finding it hard to be objective about hearing myself recorded. I soon pushed off to Lorraine's house from where we went to the local Indian restaurant The Shahi to join Cath and celebrate her bir...
