Pond work

Image
Easter Monday. No April fools day surprises here. We were up fairly late, I got up cleaned the kitchen, called Mum and pootled about answering emails and so on. We were listening off and on to the Classic FM top 300 classical tunes. Mum was too, and said the music was getting worse the more popular it was. The rain abated in the afternoon, and Lorraine and I went outside to do more pond work. More digging, laying the underlay and then the waterproof sheet, and partially filling it with water.  Annoying snails have been at Lorraine's cucumber seedlings in the glasshouse.  A pleasantly sluggish evening. We watched Independence Day , for fun. Spoke to Toby lad, before he mooched off to a cafe to do his marking. Below... Partially filling the pond. Our next step is assembling the rocks and so on around the edge, and cutting the excess sheet off. Soon it will be teeming with wildebeest, crocodiles etc.  Also some plum blossom.

Welly

In the garden today, standing in a hole and digging to Australia to create a wildlife pond. Excited too by the blossom on our plum trees. Off to the Wellington for a change where we met Patrick and Adele. Reading a notice in the public bar saying the hotel was originally named The New Inn but was renamed after the Duke of Wellington stayed there once. A few beers and some fish and chips, and plenty of chat of course. Adele showing us photo of a face she made out of metals on her course. Amazing. Patrick talking about retrieving royalties from musical performances past. A cheery evening, with lots of talk and fairly early home.
