Hump day

Up early, a little after Lorraine. Getting over the hump day of the week. Worked on detailed but boring German stuff, sent that off to Munich, then chatted with Keith. US brief just after lunch, and then bounced ideas about with Keith and got to a point where we could stop by close of play. We have to present ideas at 7pm on Friday evening to the US guys, which is inconvenient. I am desperate to pick up the threads of my own writing. But money is money I suppose. Sam dragged the tree off to the recycling spot in Preston Park this morning while I was working. And the Dusty Dolls came. Went out for a series of short walks to get to my 10k paces. On the last one saw the big new moon, the hidden part clearly visible, and Jupiter gleaming near it. Home and made the plain meal of steamed peas and cabbage, boiled potatoes with a bit of grilled fish, which I found unaccountably tasty. Possibly because of Spartan Month. Horrifically, however, I weighed myself and seem to have added half a kilo...

The slither of a new moon

Starting a week which seems mercifully free of freelance work. However before I got wearily out of bed I had an offer of a few days working with my German friends, starting next Monday, which helps to keep the Kenny coffers a chinking.  I gave much of the morning to tinkering with poetry, and looking after Lorraine, who while a bit better, is still nowhere near right. I am going to lurk with him in Seaford soon. Nick in a cheery mood, and becoming almost lyrical telling us again about hang gliding in the Himalayas. He said there was something called a red zone, that it was important not to fall into, as you would be unlikely to be found for weeks. Richard has chosen not to be vaccinated for his own reasons. His problem now is that his employer is the NHS, and the Government are saying it will become mandatory for...

New moon!

A leisurely morning, mostly in bed. I got up and toddled around the corner to buy some sliced chewy brown bread. After breakfast Lorraine and I went into the garden and busied ourselves planting things for the slugs to eat and moving pots about and repotting stuff.  Dawn came by at two armed with clotted cream, an enormous scone and strawberries. It was lovely to see her, and for Lorraine and I to actually give her a hug. We sat outside in the back garden chatting. She told us how her family has been approached, in a very disturbing and hostile way, by someone claiming to be related to them. The pandemic is turning people crazy. Very nice to be setting the world right with Dawn after far too long.  Sam and Jade like church mice all day, having gone to bed very late last night indeed as is only right and proper in the young uns.   Later in the afternoon, Lorraine and I settled down to watch a bit of the European cup, the important matter of Denmark vs Finland. The game in ...
