The gnawing of summer hounds

Image
Raining heavily overnight. More foraging in the garden for soft fruits for breakfast and vegetables. The smell of the garden was lovely. Petrichor they call it. We have big two pots of blueberries and they are rewarding us with the best blueberries I've ever eaten. Again marvelling at being able to spoon down something you just picked five minutes ago. After breakfast, Lorraine and I mooched into town, principally to see Adele's show at Gallery Uno, called Duet, done with another artist called Liza Morton. Looked really professional insid and Adele's work is going from strength to strength in its variety and quality.  It was the opening morning too, so there was coffee and fizz to drink. I stuck to coffee as it wasn't quite noon. Adele looked all cheery and pleased, and she had a lot to be proud of. Liza had some fun pieces of pottery, including wall mountable gull's heads holding chips which made me laugh.  A spot of shopping, and looking at paint colours as we are...

Snow and sunshine

Lorraine off to Ashford today. A beautiful day, which I was supposed to be editing, and sat at my desk for hours, but one of those days where your brain goes off at tangents however hard you try. I met Palo for lunch, and we sat in Baca cafe signing copies of Snow , and making a few plans. She will check if this is okay.  I like Palo, and she is a can-do person, and this little collaboration is fun. Went for a long walk this afternoon, eventually, having been frustrated by my own lack of progress on the editing. A gorgeous evening, with blue skies. Mooched along the seafront. A murder of crows at one point.  Very blue and lovely. Home, and not long before Lorraine arrived home safely. We are watching The Orville all over again.  Below Palo and I in Gal...

A smidgeon of magic

Image
Appropriately nippy weather at last. In the morning we readied ourselves to experience Seaford Christmas Magic. Lorraine drove Maureen, Pat and myself the minute or so's ride into town, and dropped us off and drove back home. I walked along Broad Street with Pat and Maureen, quite fun, with cold looking people at stalls, and a man with a guitar and a woman singer in a cute Christmas get up, a stand with Sussex pulled pork, and others with mulled wine and cake and so on. Maureen got to the end of the street and said, 'is this it?' -- not having discerned any magic. And then said she wanted to go home. I called Lorraine who had just left home again, and we wandered back down the street. Meanwhile Lorraine had found a parking spot. Lorraine poked her mum and dad into a cafe, and we sauntered about a bit, and bought some cake, and houseplants and an octopus candlestick which Pat and Maureen had craved, having seen ours.   Then then went into Gallery Uno, where I stood about out...
