Looking for lost things

Image
Escorted Mrs Kenny to the library. A beautiful, early autumn morning, and after she went in to delight the infants of Seaford, I wandered over to the Seaford Peace Garden, and then mooched down to the seaside.    Then home to complete the online form for a new passport. On reaching the payment screen I started the  futile search for my trusty green leather wallet. Even Lorraine couldn't find it. I've had the wallet for eleven years but it is properly lost. Luckily, nobody had used my bank cards and I froze two on my phone app, and the other with a phone call. I called The Prince Albert, visited Seaford Station, where the man in the ticket office was very helpful, filled out the lost property form on line, and popped into Seaford Police station. No actual police there, but in the tourist office reception area, shared by the police, a nice woman said it would have been handed into her but nothing had.   In the afternoon, I took out a rubbish bag from the bin and went t...

From The Nightwork to Shakespeare

Racing the deadline for getting the poems ready for The Nightwork, which meant I spent all morning muttering through them while Lorraine was working at the next desk. Finally, after some big (in terms of the manuscript) decisions, sent them off to Robin. Felt good to have got it done and sent off. I hope Robin likes it.  Both exciting and nerve wracking by turns. Confirmation of more freelancing in London next week, which is good. The Kenny coffers in increasingly good shape. This is directly to do with me buying a new green wallet of course. Otherwise, focused today. Apart from going to the gym, which was a great mind-cleanser and enabled me to be decisive and non stressed when I got home again. A five o'clock snooze that set me up admirably for the weekend. Lorraine and I zipped off in taxi to The Blue Man this evening to see the Shakespeare Heptet. We had been given the wrong time,  early of course, so we popped next door to the noisy rock venue the Hope where we met An...

Being a modern creative artistic type

Back on the book today. Lorraine working beside me much of the day, which was fun. Less fun is a return of the dreaded orc foot, and I find myself hobbling around goutishly. Lorraine however cooked a cake to take to one of her work meetings, and we scarfed the offcuts. Not much of a project Lorraine thing to do, but nice and tasty. Poor Lorraine off to do Governor business this evening. Having discovered some heart sinking anomalies in the first section of my project, fixing them isn't proving too hard and I am nearing the stage where I can  just do a quick hoover of tiresome extra adverbs, and outbreaks of typos and gobbledegook. Luckily the work mooted for the end of this week appears to have melted away, which I am rather pleased about. I took delivery today of two items. A green leather wallet, which I purchased for superstitious reasons, to replace a much treasured green leather wallet that died a few years ago, and The Big Book of Hell   A Cartoon Book by Matt Groeni...
Wallet and Grimace Seven o'clock and awake after a good night's sleep. Asked myself this question: do you know where your wallet is? Four hours of searching, plus revisiting Anton's place (which I am keeping an eye on) and the cybercafe round the corner and I had to reach the conclusion that I had lost it, possibly left yesterday while in a daze of tiredness, in the cybercafe I now type this in. Searching for hours on end takes you to a desolate place. And actually deciding to cancel your cards comes as some kind of relief. Fortunately nobody seems to have been enjoying a spending spree with them. And I am still able to get money from the bank though if I brandish my passport. I also took myself off to cash converters today to see if my laptop had been converted into readies, but sadly not. The wallet was my lucky, and originally quite expensive, wallet, I'd had for years. I bought it having been talked into "making money feel welcome" by a nice Indian lady I ...
