Zero

Completely forgot my drawing class this morning. But worked instead on poems. Lorraine's personal trainer Caroline came to us today, and had Lorraine working out in the garden. Nice woman, and we chatted for a bit. Off to Brighton this afternoon to hang out with Anton, recovering very well and doing a loads of paces per day. I noticed I had a bit more spring in my step as I walked up the steep hill of Guilford Road. Called for Anton, and sloped down to the Cow and played a game of chess, which I won, followed by a game of bones which Anton won. Just as we finished a cheery little man came and stood over us in the empty pub, commenting on the game. Luckily he was only there for Anton's final move. Neither of us drinking alcohol, but instead drank Guinness Zero, which is okay, but feels a bit heavy and weird afterwards. Walked down the street with him at Seven Dials, and stood outside two premises that were being threatened by the co-op next door. They each have a poster in both ...

I know what I like in my wardrobe

Lorraine had a vile night's sleep last night, back into the school routine.  I was lucky enough to sleep in till seven, waking up to find the fairies had left me a cup f tea.  Got up and worked on poems, and then took copy comments then simply worked on the job till it was done. When Sonia arrived, she said the living room looked much better now we had moved the futon upstairs. I told her that I was throwing things out, and she told me about a writer who had thrown everything out apart from a desk and his computer. He he lost lots of weight too, she said, looking at me meaningfully. Off for a walk into town this afternoon, where I sold some books and gave others to charity. Enjoying the walk. Home and a bit more tidying and sorting. Spoke to Mum. Then Lorraine home early, and we drove off to collect the wardrobe. We parked up outside and waited for half an hour for the nice man with the van, who had completely forgotten, but came nevertheless after finishing his dinner. ...

Poems then drinking

I had a much needed day working on The Nightwork manuscript till around 4, and then sent the results to Rhona. This meant I missed The Children's Parade, which Lorraine and Mum saw, before Mum went off to Janet's place. Lorraine then met Betty and Rosie and went to Janet's open house. Anton also went there. Just as I'd finished work, Toby face timed me for a good chat. Then this done I made my way to the sun garden of the Battle of Trafalgar where Lorraine, Betty and Anton were sipping cold beers. We managed to move to a sunny spot and were then joined by Mum, who had enjoyed her day at Janet's place. Then Anton and I scooted home to collect Mum's things and met them all in The Cow at Seven Dials. Co-incidentally Ken, Janet and Huss had gone there too, so we had quite a gathering, which entirely compensated for the monastic scribing of the day. Mum had to catch a train home, so I walked her down and bade her a fond farewell before returning to The Cow. Had a...

The air guitar of happiness

A nice lazy start to the day. As traditional, Lorraine and I sat in bed gulping tea, reading the news sites on iPads and laptops with the cats hanging about. Wandered into Brighton Lorraine as I expected Mindy to arrive, but she cancelled. Instead I sat about having nice cups of tea with Lorraine and Rosie in Trafalgar street in a sunny interlude. Then I made off to catch up with Anton. Young Oskar's now hosting a squadron of model airplanes hanging from his ceiling. Also introduced to Snappy the venus fly trap. Then briefly to the child friendly Cow for a cheeky drink and chat. I was once called the Tin Drum, where I first met Lorraine. I don't like it being called the Cow. Then home to sprawl briefly on the gold sofa (newly washed) and watch Wigan steal a late goal against Manchester City to win an improbable victory in the FA Cup. Football is fantastic at the moment. Chelsea's victory over Aston Villa this morning secured them a top four finish (winning them anothe...
