Stretchy time

Image
Basking in my first class train wheeze still. You can tell it is a good idea, as travelling train staff use it, like the three drivers talking about a colleague who Missed Shoreham. How can you miss Shoreham? etc. I worked on work stuff again, and finished the work I'd been doing so I could send in once I got to work. A busy morning, and a less busy afternoon. Keith and I going off to Leon to eat at lunch. I had some species of chicken and rice with bits of salad. Afternoon with one meeting. The weekend beginning to seem a logical possibility. Time stretchy, appalling work longueurs hating the time I am spending there, and then so hideously fast in other ways. After work, sloped up to Euston Square tube. Walked through Tavistock Square and took the snap below. Plenty of rain today. Tube to Stanmore and walked to Mum and Mason's in the rain. Off in the car to Amaretto on Edgware High Road. They were friendly to Mum and Mas there. Mas and I ordered Americana pizzas and had so...

Fragrant

A relaxed, slow start to the day. Lots of talking that we hadn't had energy to do over the week.  Then an organisational day, doing things like drilling holes above the window in the front room so we could hang the curtains again, and then hanging curtains. I like doing things like this with Lorraine, as I have little confidence as a DIY person without her. A visit to the carpet shop nearby too, to discuss carpets. The colour of a carpet is a fiendishly difficult decision sometimes. Also went to get the car washed (by dour hooded men under the viaduct) and visit Miss Mole's Flower Emporium (the owner kissing Lorraine hello) where I bought a terrarium for Lorraine to have in her new office. If Lorraine had her life again I think she might work with Miss Mole in her flower emporium. It is a fragrant place. Then Lorraine cooked a gorgeous fish pie, and we watched a little TV before she conked out. I stayed up and watched some episodes of Nathan Barley a cult comedy of which only...

Ascent of Mount Beaky

Image
A cheery day today. Lorraine and I walking down to look at some nearby open houses, and commission a glassmaking lady to make us a piece of glass. Guernsey's 70th Liberation Day today, and turns out the glassmaker's partner was from the Jewel of the Sea. We drifted about for a while, looked at some good art, and some art that was less good. On the way home we popped into Mrs Moles Flower Emporium to buy irises. Lorraine loves it in there and they are very friendly and chatty. My leg really has improved, and now I am at the point where I can now ascend Mount Beaky (Beaconsfield Villas, accompanied by Sherpa Lorraine) and gain the summit without personal injury. Betty in an highly excitable state when she got back from work as her University besties Olivia and Emily were coming down to stay. Emily arrived first and told us about her shop job and her acceptance to study to become a voice coach. And then Olivia arrived later in a cab, and Lorraine and I heard the girls squeakin...
