To Hampstead
Up early, and crafted a covering letter for The Follower Followed and I sent it off to my first target, a magazine in the US. After breakfast with Lorraine, who set off for Rhyme Time, and I set off for Hampstead. A stressful journey. At Seaford I sat opposite a student who said, 'Do you mind if I sit here young man?' And we had a cordial conversation about politeness for a while. He phoned his mum and dad twice, then he had a detailed train-based conversation with the ticket inspector, and was greeted affectionately by one of his tutors on the train. I sneakily hopped into the lift from the platform, as did another passenger. This woman said 'I'll hold the door for you Jamie!' He was amazed she knew his name, until she told him he'd heard his tutor use it on the train. 'Everyone knows my name!' he said delightedly. Downhill from there though.
