A little looser

Off to drawing class this morning, trying to be early. Lorraine phoned me shortly before I arrived to say I'd left my paper at home. So had to double back, Lorraine handed it to me in the street. Late again, which made me feel irritable. The model was Tommy, who we have had before. A slim young guy, who I find a bit difficult to draw. Melissa stopping me after a few pencil strokes, and saying that the foot would be off the page. Tommy and I spoke afterwards and he wanted to connect with me as he is writing a play which needs a bit of background about advertising in it. Nice chat with Melissa afterwards too. Adele, Patrick and I had bumped into her in the Boot last Friday too, and she apologised for not introducing her husband. She locked up an we left. Sauntered home, realising that I'd left my umbrella in the women's Institute Hall.

Then home to find Lorraine hard at work tidying. In the afternoon she made off to take Maureen, with Patrick in tow, to see the doctor.

I attended the online Understory Conversation, which was great fun. Inspired by Emma who has been collating everything from her notebooks into one big volume, and so discarding lots. She said it's helping her to see her own preoccupations and so on. I began to get excited about condensing everything of use, and chucking away things. The idea of shedding stuff, and simplifying everything is very appealing. But I go thought bouts of this. The last time this happened I began to fold my teeshirts with manic precision. Linda read us a journal entry about walking along by the canal, a short walk she does every day, which was really meditative and interesting.

Then off on a longish and pleasant walk. Listening to the rest is history podcast about the first world war. I am now on an unbroken streak of 25 days of long walks. Feels good, but it makes me feel hungry. My trousers are a little looser though, which is a sign.

Home and Lorraine was cooking one of her delicious curries. All well. I spoke to Mum who seemed chipper despite Thursday being the day of the meeting with boring people.

Raining hard first thing, but a lovely afternoon, here I am walking by the side of trees looking out at the corn stubble fields.
