Popping off to Ashford
Father's day and Lorraine and I drove off to Kent, to take Pat and Maureen off to the Blacksmiths pub, where we had a tasty Sunday lunch. As we drove there Beth phoned Lorraine and also wished me a happy stepladders day (a reference to the is this your real ladder or is it your stepladder joke).
A nice time with Pat and Maureen, a good meal. We all had roast lamb, which is bold for me. We are migrating to the small amount of meat less often approach. Maureen told us about the nightmare of cat sitting. She barricaded the old cat flap they still have, but the pesky cat still manage to escape, and the next day was spent tracking it down (successfully thankfully). Then we returned home to watch tennis from The Queens club, which is not far from where I used to work in Hammersmith. I even worked inside the club house there one time, as some of us were sent there as a treat to inspire creatives by putting them in different environments. I suppose you have to find tennis inspiring in the first place, which I don't particularly but it was fun. Then we watched a Pixar movie called Moana which I quite enjoyed. Lorraine going through a ghastly form to renew Maureen's disabled parking permit. Having completed the deliberately off-overcomplex online form, photos had to be uploaded, and as Lorraine tried to do this the whole lot was deleted, so she had to do it twice.
Maureen on entertaining form, who also took over the knitting of Lorraine's octopus for a bit too. Lorraine has done five legs so far.
Fond farewells, then we drove home listening to Kate Bush on the radio. Sam had cooked when we got back for himself and enough for all of us tomorrow. Ate cheese on toast and watched Star Trek on our return.
Below a snap in the back garden to take some photos, one if which is below. Chastised by Maureen afterwards because it had sheds in it.
