Stay awake, don't nod and dream

Poor Lorraine's Sunday started with me raging after weighing myself and finding, inexplicably, that after plenty of exercise, and moderated eating and drinking. I seem to have added weight. A later post-raging breakfast with Lorraine. I finished reading Peter Daniels book Old Men , which I enjoyed, and selected the poems and so on for the interview.   Then Morrisons to get our food and Pat and Maureen's stuff. Then after I dropped their food off  Lorraine drove us all home. Beth arrived soon too.  I went to the gym, and hair shirting it, pushed myself vindictively.  Then home, and helped Lorraine prepare food etc. for roast Sunday chicken dinner with Pat and Maureen, and Beth and James. Boxing day

Lorraine and I day spent the day with the family watching TV, eating bubble and squeak, gnawing cold turkey and pickles (or vegan options) and playing games with Pat, Maureen, Beth, Sam, Jade and Sian. A day for films too, Saving Mr Banks , which I had seen before but perhaps enjoyed more this time around, and Marry Poppins, which I don't think I had ever seen in its entirety. Loved it. A happy Boxing Day. Lorraine feeling ropey with her cold, which is a great shame.

Miraculously St Paul's Cathedral remained standing as an icon of the indomitable spirit of the British Empire etc. etc. As the flames raged my grandmother was enduring a long and painful labour. And my mother, whose birthday it is tomorrow, was born with jaundice and had to be swung through the legs of the doctor to encourage her first breath wh...
