Slow and speedy

Valentine's day. I got a card from my lovely. Annoyingly, I was only able to find the card I had bought for Lorraine two weeks ago, shortly after she had left for work.  Reading Poetry Nation Review and The Rialto to talk about on the podcast first thing, then Robin and met for an hour or so to record. Also a good chat about poetry. Listened to these later in the day after Robin had done some editing.  At clippers barbers I noticed, as Stacy took infinite pains on invisible hairs, a little plastic Speedy Gonzales on his bench. I didn't ask him about it, but enjoyed my private speculations. A bagful of wool on the floor after he was done. Walked back through Preston Park. The lightest of rain that dusted the area of concern also produced a fleeting but complete rainbow. A bit of freelance lined up for tomorrow. Good for the coffers, but not making my soul sing. My left knee is a bit swollen. No idea why, came on a few days ago. Reminding me of the feeling it had before I had my...

A fringe evening

Really had to drag myself out of bed and off to work this morning. Thank goodness for Lorraine. Once at work, meetings, most of them unnecessary as far as I was concerned. Worst thing was that they were threatening to remove Keith and I from the yellow padded booth we've been working in. It's one of the bits that makes everything bearable. Only two weeks to go now, but it seems like a hell of a long time today. Home and all the way to Brighton, where I met Beth down by the clock tower and we went for a bite to eat in Leon, and then made our way to see a bit of a ropey play in the Rialto Theatre. Loved the theatre itself however, and its little bar. Good to get a bit more of the fringe in, however. One of the actors in the play is someone we are thinking of assimilating into Brighton Blonde Productions, and a pal of Kitty's. Nick seems a nice chap, and we thought has potential, and we are going to do some work with him this weekend. A cheeky cold beer after the show (it wa...

Treats not tricks

Woke up with a sense that obstacles can be surmounted, and that positive sunlit uplands can be reached. An amazingly warm, sunny day. Lorraine had a meeting with a colleague, Sue, in nearby Cuckfield. I came too as they were meeting in a pub with a Wifi. Sue and Lorraine talked about work and I quietly got on with uploading yesterday's blog and drinking coffee and sparkling water catching up with some of my outstanding correspondence and reading The Rialto in which I knew four of the poets, including Robin and her pal Charlotte. Lorraine and I then made off to Brighton where we parked near where we used to live, and walked into town to visit a Solicitor called Wendy who is in charge of our next purchase, which appears to be going smoothly. Then a walk around into the Pavilion Gardens with the intention of having a coffee in the art gallery, but the cafe was closed. It was our only chance to acknowledge that just over a year ago we got married there. Then a mooch about...
