A bit of a shock
Up and at 'em this morning, submitting two short stories. I've had a big burst of writing lately, and felt like my brain needs refuelling. I have half an idea for another story.
Lorraine took Pat to Eastbourne and then did Rhymetime, about a dozen babies and their adults this morning. Beth had to go to physio briefly this morning so the little lad was with us for a spell around lunchtime. Off to the gym this afternoon, and then home to chat to Mum who was quite chipper, and off to see her pals up the road this evening. I assembled a salad for supper for Lorraine and I. Sat on the gold sofa chatting for a while.
Then to the Cinque Ports to meet Steve, who'd been in Leicester for much of July as his mother is recovering from a broken leg and a broken foot on the other limb. While we were in the pub, the jukebox played a song by Yes, called South Side of the Sky. I have never heard anything from Yes's classic period played in a pub before.
Then to Steamworks. Weirdly the sound system there was playing King Crimson, which I'd never heard in a pub before either.
We were just enjoying a well kept beer, when I read a text Anton saying he was in A&E. He'd had some blood tests which seemed to indicate he had experienced another heart event in the last weeks. They sent an ambulance round while he was cooking. All a bit of a shock. He has been under humongous pressure at work lately, and this is the result. Klaudia was with him.
Somewhat sobered by this, and after several texts with Anton there isn't much I could do today. Steve and I had another beer. We'd not been out for a beer on our own this year, I think.
Meanwhile, Brian having a knee replacement today. Never a dull moment.
