Winged omens
Slept heavily last night, and feeling a bit brighter and less sore throaty. More importantly, mum's now on the last full day of her antibiotics for her chest, and is coughing a lot less. She also has completed her bladder antibiotics, and is very different to a week ago. She is sleeping lots, when she's awake she's in good form so I'm feeling a less anxious about her now.
Wynford came by after church this morning, and telling Mum how well she looked. Mum put it down to her makeup.
In other nice news, Mark Hartley now a grandfather to a wee lad born in Glasgow. He and Carol flying up today. The baby wearing dinosaur themed clothes.
Lorraine and I have flights booked to go to stay with Sue and John in Ireland on Tuesday, and I've been thinking till the last day or so that I would just have to let Lorraine go on her own. After talking it over with Mum that all being well tomorrow with Mum and nothing bad from the Doctor, that I will go with Lorraine. I have mixed feelings of course about leaving Mum. I'll play it by ear, but I am missing Mrs Kenny lots.
Otherwise I was industrious, cleaning the kitchen toilet and bathroom sink and hoovering and mopping floors so on. Actual sun in the afternoon. Mum went for a sleep after lunch, and I walked around the small Stonegrove Park talking to Lorraine, then into Edgware for a cup of coffee at Caffè Nero and into Sainsbury's. I also looked briefly around the graveyard at St Margarets. I'd never done that before.
Into the Stonegrove park on the way home full of bird omens: a mischief of six magpies, a red kite being mobbed by two noisy gulls just as the mysterious egret of Edgware appeared, spindly and slightly prehistoric, and attempted to land in what remains of the big puddle but was scared off by a small girl running towards it. In the fleeting sunshine, everything felt like Spring suddenly.
Home and chatted to Mum, and cooked a substandard meal.
Am I going mad? I watched Midsomer Murders and again quite enjoyed it. It has a gentle folk horror element to it, and centred around a chalice and a spearhead found in a barrow. I would never have watched this programme unless I was here.
For want of something different, a couple of not very good views of St Margarets on the High Road, but featuring a rare blue sky moment.
