Patrick triumphs

Feeling very tired, but up to London on the train, travelling with Andrew and Kate, and Carol. Assembled at the Civil Service Club, near New Scotland Yard. We met Adele and Delores, and all had lunch there. Then off to the Dublin Castle in Camden to where Patrick was going to perform. The others went there by the Northern line, not fancying that I took a more scenic route. Ended up walking down Kentish Town Road, which I'd not done for ages. A very weedy smell along there. Camden is usual trendy busy place.

I think I have been to the Dublin Castle before, and its music venue in the back of the pub had the authentic sticky floor, so much that you could hear yourself walking in the moments when there was no noise. Hot as a sauna in there till, they turned on the air conditioning.  Lots of acts associated with the Music Production MA that Patrick had done, and all of them good. Patrick did very well, creating a strong rapport with the audience, and having natural charisma. He also brought tears to my eyes with his last song about his mother in law's dementia. He builds such an emotional connection with the audience. Patrick well supported by his Seaford Posse, plus Adele's dad and brother and wife were there too to support him, and Chris arrived with a lady friend, and Deana and Steve came too.

Another singer called Calune proceeded him, and is clearly a star in the making young woman with a beautiful voice.

After Patrick's session, and the following one where he played a bit of supporting guitar with the next act, a man called Richard, who goes by the name of Big Attic,  Lorraine and I hopped on a bus back to New Scotland Yard. Had a snack there in the attractively priced bar food. I popped down again when Patrick got back with Adele, and Kate and Andrew, and James, his musician friend who'd played after him. Toasted their success and had a good chat, and then slipped upstairs again to crawl gratefully into bed.

Below Patrick in his Suttlefish guise, and the mirror and two sinks in the gents -- which sort of says rock venue to me.
