Sea cucumbers
While snorkelling in Greece I have often seen sea cucumbers, lying about on the sea floor, moving slightly in the current. I mostly emulated those marine invertebrates today. Apart from a burst of activity around lunchtime, when Beth and Enzo came around with Lucy and little Perdy, who is was born the same month as Enzo but can walk about quite well. They were traumatised from a Christmas craft sale in the Women's Institute building around the corner, which was very busy. Beth won a giant teddy bear but didn't want it, saying she was never giong back there because it was too awkward.
I emulated the marine invertebrate, by lying about on the gold sofa. Watched football, a first round FA Cup game featuring Altringham and Notts County, played in the fog, so much so that the TV cameras couldn't see the other side of the pitch. I also finished The End of Everything by M. John Harrison, very puzzling and opaque but with an air of greatness about it too. It is literary SF, and deals with a world that has been invaded by aliens, although we don't really understand what they want or their nature. The end of everything, is perhaps the end of things being able to be understood by humans. It's most affecting character is Marnie, a forgetful and confused former painter.
Perhaps it was the flu jab I had yesterday, but I felt that I had very little energy today. Lorraine similar, hence the sea cucumber business.
