Enzo day

James drove Beth off to A&E this morning, with really bad stomach pains. It's a thing Beth has had a couple of times since pregnancy, which may be gallstones. She was released later in the day having had lots of tests, lots of painkillers.  So we had a day with Enzo.

Shortly after Maureen called to say Pat had slipped out of bed again, but luckily the carers were just about to come. They made him comfortable, but paramedics had to come later to lift him back into bed. The bed is adjustable, and is low, and Lorraine had put lots of our little flat cushions on the floor, so Pat is literally cushioned if he should slip out.

Ezno, and seemed completely happy to be with us. Lorraine is absolutely brilliant with him, and I loved playing with him, and he seems quite relaxed with me too which is nice. Having had little exposure to babies, they are far more interesting and loveable than I imagined. He is responding to the world now, and chuckling and smiling, especially at Lorraine, especially when she puts her best baby-attracting face on.

Beth and James returned late afternoon, just before I returned from a walk along the sea. Beth looking white and exhausted. James shattered too. It was decided that Beth and Enzo should stay with us, and James could get a night's sleep ahead of work tomorrow. Lorraine went around to see Pat and Maureen. Toby called, and we had a good chat.

On her return I cooked boiled basmati and a dry fried egg, which is all Beth could cope with eating, and some simple pasta for Lorraine and I. Before bedtime, Beth had more colour in her cheeks. Enzo continuing his exemplary behaviour.

I slept in the spare room tonight, and Beth, Lorraine and Enzo had our room, everyone hoping Beth wouldn't have another difficult night.  I went to bed and read some horror stories, and slept like a baby.

Below Enzo's face, after I'd been pressing our noses and making beeping noises.
